The 52/48 formula

Fat carries 52 parts, SNF carries 48. The standard many cooperative societies pay on.

Formula
base × (fat×52÷6.5 + SNF×48÷9.0) ÷ 100
Standard fat
6.5
Standard SNF
9.0

Dairywala works it out exactly like this: rate = base rate × ( fat × 52 ÷ 6.5 + SNF × 48 ÷ 9.0 ) ÷ 100.

The 6.5 and 9.0 are the standard fat and SNF the formula is measured against. A member whose milk reads exactly 6.5 fat and 9.0 SNF is paid the base rate; better milk earns more, thinner milk less.

Both the base rate and those two standards can be changed for the whole dairy, and either can be overridden for a single member whose society settled on different numbers.

Because SNF is part of the price, the entry form asks for both fat and SNF for these members.
